Where it all began
The Creative Ability Hub started with one person, one connection, and one creative moment that changed everything.
What began as an artist supporting a young woman through art quickly became something much more. It became clear that creativity could open doors in ways traditional support services sometimes couldn’t. It created confidence, encouraged communication, and most importantly, helped people feel seen and valued.
From this experience, The Creative Ability Hub was established, with a clear purpose to create meaningful opportunities for people living with disability through creativity, connection, and self-expression.

Meet the founder
The Creative Ability Hub was founded by Jacqueline Read, who saw first-hand the impact creativity can have on a person’s life. With previous experience as a qualified disability support worker, a background in visual art and creative writing along with a passion for working with people, Jacqueline recognised a gap in the way creative programs were being delivered.
Many services existed, but few truly focused on the individual experience, meaningful outcomes and long-term impact that result from the delivery of a quality art program.
Jacqueline has developed a powerful program of activities to improve outcomes for people living with disability, building capacity through creative skills development, teaching real artist's techniques using quality materials and providing opportunities to increase independence through creating and exhibiting saleable art.
Her approach combines quality art materials with traditional artist's techniques, empowering participants to develop practical creative skills while building confidence, independence and a sense of achievement. Participants are supported to connect with local arts groups, attend community arts events and workshops, and, where they choose, exhibit and sell their artwork, creating meaningful opportunities for long-term personal growth and community participation.

At The Creative Ability Hub, we strive to make a difference in the lives of those living with disability by bringing together people with diverse abilities, artists, arts educators, arts workers, the NDIS and the community.
We aim to meet the needs and personal goals of our clients through the provision of individualised, high-quality, supportive, recreational, and creative art programs.
Our mission

Our approach
Person-centred support
Every participant is different, and so is every session. We take the time to understand each individual and tailor our approach to suit their needs, pace, and interests.
Creativity without pressure
There is no right or wrong way to create. Our sessions are relaxed and supportive, allowing participants to explore freely and enjoy the process.
Building confidence through positive experiences
Confidence doesn’t happen all at once. It builds over time, through small moments of achievement, encouragement, and positive experiences.
Connection that
matters
We create environments where people feel comfortable, included, and connected, not just to the activity, but to others around them.
